With an ambition to become a net zero company by 2050, or sooner, bp aims to invest in building infrastructure to support freight transport across major road networks in mainland Europe and the UK by 2030 to meet the needs of customers. bp’s hydrogen mobility ambitions are aligned with those of the H2Accelerate collaboration, whose members are working towards the deployment of the hydrogen refuelling network required to support a pan-European hydrogen trucking system.
bp has been welcomed to the collaboration as a key future infrastructure provider for heavy-duty hydrogen vehicles. bp will support efforts to develop hydrogen refuelling infrastructure and advocate for the policy needed to rapidly upscale the European hydrogen freight ecosystem.

H2Accelerate is a collaboration agreement signed between the participants under which the participants will work together to:
- seek public support to fund early pre-commercial projects to activate the market on the path towards a mass market roll-out;
- communicate around the technical and commercial viability of hydrogen fuelled trucking at scale; and
- hold discussions with policy makers and regulators to encourage policies which can support a sustainable and speedy activation of the zero emissions long haul trucking market.
