GB DAF Fleetcare Opens New Service Centre at DIRFT

A £3.2 million purpose-built GB DAF Fleetcare servicing facility opens its doors at the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal. The UK's largest road and rail freight terminal.

GB DAF has unveiled its brand-new truck servicing facility at the UK’s largest intermodal freight terminal – the Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT). Investing £3.2 million in the 1.6-acre site, strategic located on the A5 Watling Street and within the Golden Triangle of the Rail Freight Terminal, M1 junction 18 and the M6 / A14 interchange, GB DAF – DIRFT ensures timely and convenient servicing for truck owners.

As an official DAF Service Partner, GB DAF joins the industry’s largest dealer network with 137 DAF Dealer locations, almost twice as many as its closest competitor. As an added service convenience, GB DAF – DIRFT is prepared for the future and the growing demand for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles with additional infrastructure including a roof venting system, pit ventilation, 400-amp electricity supply, gas alarms and multiple ducts to facilitate the installation of vehicle chargers.

The 15,000 sq.ft. service site consists of five 28-metre, fully equipped workshop bays, as well as an outdoor parking section that can fit up to 12 full-length articulated trucks. GB DAF – DIRFT acts as an Approved Tachograph Centre and a DVSA Authorised Testing Facility, meaning that customers can take full advantage of MoT preparation, testing, and certification services. Stocked with a detailed selection of DAF and TRP Parts, the new facility represents an unmatched level of customer service and convenience.
GB DAF DIRFT Press Release

“It’s been a long journey, but we’re thrilled to be here in what is the premier location in the UK for large-scale logistics companies,” said GB Fleetcare Managing Director Paul Grimes. “We worked extremely hard to build what we believe is the most modern and well-equipped truck servicing facility in the terminal, and we’re honoured to strengthen our relationship with market-leading DAF Trucks, bringing unrivalled levels of service to DAF and mixed fleet operators.”

Heading up the six highly trained DAF Technicians on site is Service Manager Ben Taylor, who has just completed an IMI level 4 training course with DAF over the past two years. To meet customer demand, GB DAF plans to increase recruitment in the third quarter of the year, with a goal to hire 21 DAF Technicians by the end of 2023.
