We are proud to be launching a Degree-level Sales Apprenticeship Programme in partnership with Stuarts Truck and Bus, an independent Volvo Trucks dealer based in the Midlands. Hartshorne Group sells and services Volvo Trucks across the region and together we’re offering an exciting opportunity to start your career in a fast-moving and innovative industry.
We have an exciting opportunity for ambitious, people-focused individuals looking for a career in sales. Our Apprentice Business-to-Business Sales Program will allow you to develop essential sales skills and build professional relationships. You’ll be mentored and coached by experienced professionals in the Commercial Sales Teams and encouraged to grow into a future sales leader.
The Apprenticeship Programme
This degree-level apprenticeship combines practical experience with academic learning. You’ll work 37 hours a week, with one day dedicated to off-job training. It’s a 3-year course, delivered in partnership with Middlesex University, where you'll gain industry insights and practical sales skills.

- A minimum requirement of 2 A-Levels, Grade C or above, or equivalent Level 4 qualification A-Levels or equivalent qualification
- GCSE including English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above).
- A Full UK Driving Licence
- A great communicator who enjoys talking to people, listening, building relationships and presenting ideas
- A natural problem-solver who likes to explore challenges and find smart solutions
- Commercially curious with a real interest in how businesses operate and grow
- Organised and adaptable, with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
- An interest in technology, digital tools, and using data to support decision-making
- Build customer relationships: Get to know our clients, understand their needs, and support the sales team with follow-ups to build lasting partnerships
- Support the sales process: Help prepare proposals and quotes, manage key documents, and track activity with CRM systems and tools like Salesforce
- Become a Volvo product expert: Learn about our trucks, industry regulations, and sustainability trends to understand what makes Volvo stand out
- Contribute to growth: Research market trends, help identify new opportunities, and support marketing and sales campaigns
- Collaborate across the business: Work with colleagues in finance, technical support, and other teams while gaining real-world experience
- Learn and develop: Attend structured training with Middlesex University and receive Volvo-specific coaching from experienced team members
- Professional growth and development: Ongoing training is offered as deemed appropriate.
- Pension scheme: Employee contributes 4.5%, employer contributes 3.5%. 8% in total
- Option to opt into Westfield Health on passing probation- allows for reclaiming costs for health care such as dental, optical, and therapy treatments
- Employee Assistance Programme: Is the option of counselling available through Westfield
- Generous holiday allowance: 23 days per year plus 8 bank holidays for office staff
- Discounts on various purchases: Discounts for some retailers are available through the Westfield scheme, including Gyms
- Enhanced family-friendly policies: Maternity leave, you will receive 90% of your average weekly pay for 6 weeks. 50% of your basic pay for a further 20 weeks. Pay will then revert to the standard SMP government scheme following 26 weeks after the start of maternity leave. Paternity leave is 2 weeks at 90% of your basic pay
