Asset Alliance Group secures sparkling deal with Independent Glass
The business, which works with major clients in the automotive, retail, and commercial property sectors – on projects from office blocks to football stadia – has replaced older assets with four new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, a 16-tonne DAF XB 230 glass carrier with Bevan-built body, and three DAF XF 480 tractor units.

Martin Kiernan, Transport Manager at Independent Glass, says: “Asset Alliance Group were competitively priced, with short lead times and good availability. Crucially, they were able to deliver the specialised vehicles our business relies on.”

The new vehicles join a mixed fleet of more than 30 assets, including vans to 16 and 26-tonne glass-carrying rigids. Independent Glass, which runs its transport in-house, also has articulated trucks and semi-trailers in its operation.

The new DAFs and four Mercedes-Benz panel vans – two standard weight 3.5-tonne Sprinter 315s and two 5-tonne long wheelbase 515 variants – have been taken on five-year contract hire deals, which include full repair and maintenance and tyres throughout the term. By using contract hire, operators like Independent Glass ensure they have the latest, specialist vehicles for the job in exchange for a simple, monthly payment.

The deal was facilitated by Jim Agnew, National Key Account Manager at Asset Alliance Group, who worked closely with the business over several months to ensure they received the best vehicles for the task at hand.

Independent Glass has several locations near Glasgow as well as a site in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Its vehicles are fitted with glass-carrying frames and other adaptions specific to the job and delivery location, with loading of many vehicles done by gantry cranes via sliding roof access.
