BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) unveiled an all-electric light commercial vehicle in Germany, as the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker pushes ahead with electrification efforts in Europe.

The company unveiled the E-VALI at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hannover, Germany, on September 16, while showcasing its family of all-electric trucks, saying the all-electric light commercial vehicle is designed for the European market.

The BYD E-VALI is aimed at meeting last-mile delivery needs with 3.5-ton and 4.25-ton versions available, according to a press release yesterday.

The light commercial vehicle is equipped with BYD blade batteries and intelligent driver assistance features to provide a more practical and lower maintenance product option for local environmentally friendly commercial vehicle fleets, the company said.

BYD also debuted the EYT 2.0, a purely electric yard tractor, in the European market built for logistics and transportation scenarios such as ports and terminals.

With a gross weight of up to 75 tons, the EYT 2.0 can handle large containers and trailers, according to BYD.

The vehicle is equipped with BYD Blade batteries that can work for up to 16 hours, helping to improve transportation efficiency, said BYD.

Models of BYD's truck family, the ETM6 and ETH8, were on display at the show, with the ETM6, a 7.5-ton medium-duty truck, used in the urban logistics sector, and the ETH8, a 19-ton heavy-duty truck, used in areas such as urban cleaning and city logistics.

Both models are powered by BYD's platform developed specifically for pure electric trucks, with full load ranges of 200 and 250 kilometers, respectively, according to the company.

BYD entered into a partnership with French logistics and supply chain company CEVA Logistics during IAA Transportation 2024 on September 17, and will deliver four ETH8 all-electric trucks to it in January 2025, it said.

The four ETH8s will be put into operation in the Netherlands upon delivery and integrated into CEVA Logistics' existing ground transportation system.

By the end of June 2024, BYD has sold more than 110,000 units of commercial vehicles globally and delivered more than 85,000 pure electric commercial vehicles, according to the company.

In the January-August period of this year, BYD sold 9,651 commercial vehicles, up 9.27 percent year-on-year, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
