MAN and Koinè start electrification for Sanpellegrino
- eTGX for mineral water icon: MAN delivers first two electric trucks to Koinè for Sanpellegrino logistics
- 50 eTrucks planned: Multi-year agreement to electrify the Koinè fleet
- Green energy: Photovoltaics at depots supply the vehicles with their own electricity.
The two eTGX vehicles mark the beginning of a comprehensive strategy to reduce the environmental impact of logistics and establish a sustainable transport model. Thanks to the long range and fast-charging capability, the vehicles can be seamlessly integrated into daily operations.
"Every MAN eTGX delivered is a step toward the future of transport. Our mission is to provide vehicles that combine cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility, supporting our customers in their energy transition," says Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board for Production & Logistics, MAN Truck & Bus SE.
Koinè focuses on emission-free energy
Koinè, a long-established company with a Europe-wide presence, is investing in an emission-free solar energy system at the new Levate logistics centre with a generating capacity of up to 5 MW. "Our ambition: to electrify up to one-third of our fleet within the next three years. For us, sustainability is not just a goal—it’s a daily commitment. With MAN eTGX, we can guarantee our customers, such as the Sanpellegrino Group, safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible transport." Paolo Toccafondi, Managing Director of Koinè S.p.A. explains.
Pilot routes and CO₂ reduction
The first two eTGX will cover routes between Sanpellegrino's production facilities and the Madone and Levate logistics depots – around 250,000 km per year. The routes have been chosen in such a way that charging times are optimizedand ranges are maximized.
Svante Palebo, Global Head of Supply Chain, Nestlé Waters, the group behind Sanpellegrino: "Electrifying transport is one of the key levers of our decarbonization strategy. Thanks to initiatives like this, we continue to make our supply chain more efficient, responsible, and ready for future challenges."
Partnerships for infrastructure
The project is supported by MOON POWER Italia, the Volkswagen Group brand for B2B charging solutions, and MAN Transport Solutions, the holistic consultancy for the conversion of vehicle fleets to electromobility. "We are proud to accompany Koinè on this journey. This is an important signal for the industry: the transition to sustainable mobility is possible in Italy and is already taking place. To accelerate this change, we need clear policies, effective consultancy, and forward-thinking entrepreneurs. Together, this makes logistics an increasingly green and competitive business," says Marc Martinez, Managing Director of MAN Truck & Bus Italia.
