Exceptional service & driver comfort win Renault Trucks deal with Charles Trent
Charles Trent Ltd, one of the UK’s largest vehicle recycling companies, has taken delivery of the first three of six new Renault Trucks D16 4x2, with the decision to purchase the D16s influenced by the superior dealer backup service experience, along with the positive history with Renault Trucks’ vehicles.
Equipped with Global Cabs, and finished in Charles Trent Ltd’s striking red livery, the D16s are fitted with bespoke Belle Trailers’ Belle 3 + 1 car transporters with hydraulic beaver tail ramp and Nuvech Solutions AirBar system that helps to create a safety zone around the vehicle, protecting drivers and Vulnerable Road Users (VRUs). The new vehicles will be working single shifts collecting end-of-life and salvaged vehicles from across the UK.
Supplied by Rob Coxon, Transport Solution Executive at Sparks Commercial Services, the latest additions are backed by a 7-year Renault Trucks “Excellence” contract, providing the most comprehensive repair and maintenance contract, and guaranteeing peace of mind to Charles Trent that the vehicles are being maintained to an outstanding condition with genuine Renault Trucks parts.
Charles Trent Ltd’s Fleet Manager, Laurance Wateridge, said: “In our experience, the Renault trucks have more than proved themselves in terms of performance and reliability and the dealer support we receive from Sparks Commercial Services has been first class, too. Their focus on reducing downtime and keeping our vehicles out on the road has been instrumental in running a productive and successful vehicle recycling fleet and it is a pleasure to work with the team.”
Robust, manoeuvrable, and designed with productivity at its core, the Renault trucks are ideally suited to Charles Trent’s operation, as Laurance explains. “The D16 is a perfect fit for our business, it’s a compact vehicle for its size and, with a substantial payload of 6.8t, we’re maximising our efficiency, which is extremely important to our business.”
The new D16s with Global Cabs have been specified with driver comfort at the forefront with optional extras including air-suspended, heated and adjustable “comfort” driver’s seat with lumbar support, 2kW stand-alone cab night heater and adjustable 4-spoke leather steering wheel as well as front & rear air suspension for comfort and for the loading angle via the rear loading ramp of the Belle transporter body. They’ve also been specified with passenger side vision door with lower tinted window to provide its drivers with enhanced visibility of cyclists and other VRUs.
Laurance concludes: “The drivers appreciate the layout of the cab and the easy-to-reach controls, and the driving assistance systems and automated gearbox help them remain focused on the task in hand. They are the perfect working tool, designed to maximise productivity as well as making our drivers day-to-day work so much easier. We are all delighted with the new vehicles and look forward to welcoming more to our fleet in the future.”
