Cardiff-based Llandaff Laminates has purchased its first Isuzu from local dealer Commercial Motors (Wales), citing the impressive three-tonne payload capacity of its new N75.190 as key, as the business looks to improve the efficiency of its customer deliveries.
The new 4×2 rigid joins an eight-strong mixed commercial vehicle fleet and is mounted with a bespoke curtainside body from CTB Commercial Bodies. It will carry a wide range of heavy furniture boards, worktops and other kitchen appliances to customers in West Wales and along the M4 towards Swindon.
Mark Phillips, Managing Director of Llandaff Laminates, says: “We explored every avenue before opting for Isuzu; in the end we simply couldn’t look past such an impressive payload capacity, particularly when you consider the truck’s compact footprint and great manoeuvrability. When you add in how quickly Commercial Motors was able to deliver the vehicle, it was a no brainer.
“We’ve been looking at ways to make our truck fleet more agile and efficient. The Isuzu gives us a smaller and lighter vehicle than the 7.5-tonner it replaces, without having to compromise too much on payload – a combination that will make customer deliveries more cost effective. This is also the first time we’ve been able to specify the body design from scratch, which has allowed us to maximise the space and ensure we’re still able to carry our full range of products.”
The curtainside body has been built with the dimensions of Llandaff Laminate’s largest boards and worktops in mind, with internal racking and additional anchor points included to ensure safe and secure transit.
“This first truck was really to test the water with a new manufacturer. So far, we have been thoroughly impressed with the level of communication and support we’ve received, as well as the performance we’re getting from the vehicle. As we continue to re-shape our fleet, Isuzu will be our first port of call,” adds Phillips.
The new rigid has been supplied with the manufacturer’s three-year unlimited mileage warranty, which includes 24/7 roadside assistance, alongside access to Isuzu Truck UK’s dedicated Customer CARE team and full dealer network. On the road five days per week, the 7.5-tonner is expected to stay in operation for up to seven years.
Founded in 1958, Llandaff Laminates supplies decorative laminates, worktops, sheet materials, appliances and other kitchen products to customers in Wales and Southwest England. The company is also the proud sponsor of Cardiff Rugby.
