Supplied by Ben Fenton, Area Sales Manager, Crossroads Truck & Bus, the new fleet flagship sees H.B. Holt & Sons continue its long-standing relationship with Volvo Trucks, with approximately 80% of its trucks already supplied by the manufacturer.

Sporting H.B. Holt & Son’s classic red and green livery – paired with Dura Bright Alloy wheels – the eye-catching FH Aero can deliver substantial energy consumption and emission reductions of up to five per cent, in comparison to a standard FH, through its refined sleek, aerodynamic design.
The customer has also opted for Volvo’s Camera Monitoring System (CMS) which replaces the traditional exterior mirrors. In addition to reducing drag and improving fuel efficiency, the CMS also increases the driver’s field of view to boost safety.
Volvo’s D13K Euro-6 engine delivers 540 hp and a maximum torque output of 2,600 Nm between 1,000 and 1,450 rev/min, for great driveability, efficiency and performance. This has been paired with a 12-speed I-Shift Dual Clutch transmission, which enables seamless gear changes in a fraction of a second and smooth acceleration.
The top-of-the-range Globetrotter XXL cab – a reward for a long-serving driver at H.B. Holt & Sons – offers excellent driving and living comfort, with a longer and wider lower bed designed for a perfect night’s sleep.
A Drive+ package adds creature comforts including fully electronic air conditioning with carbon filter and sun, mist and air quality sensors, dual armrests and leather upholstery to the specification. Front air suspension also contributes to an ultra-comfortable build.
The tractor unit is backed by a Volvo Gold Contract, delivering full cost control, worry-free ownership and maximum uptime by covering all repairs and wear and tear while also enabling preventative maintenance and 24/7 real time monitoring of critical components.
Founded in 1935, today H.B. Holt & Sons operates a diverse fleet, servicing both local and national general deliveries. Its new FH Aero is expected to clock up to 140,000 km annually, working in the fleet across at least the next eight years.
