This apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to become a fully qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle technician.

Apprenticeship summary

Annual wage
£15,600 (based on the minimum wage of £7.49 for those aged 18-20)
As part of our programme, we will be doing regular pay reviews and upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, your basic salary will be £27,144 per annum.

Working week
Monday to Friday - working 8am - 5pm
Total hours per week: 40

Recruitment process

As part of our resruitment process we will be holding a selection day for all shortlisted candidates. These will be taking place on 18th and 25th October this year, you will only need to attend one date. Following the selection date you will be invited for a week of work experience in November and a potential start date in December

What will the apprentice be doing?

As an apprentice, you will work on a range of Mercedes Benz commercial vehicles alongside our dedicated and highly qualified Mercedes Benz technicians. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to work safely within a heavy vehicle workshop, which will mean that you will:

· Learn how to correctly service, maintain and repair HGVs.
· Learn what specialist tools and equipment should be used.
· Learn how to prepare HGV for their MOT to ensure that they pass.
· How to carry out inspections of commercial vehicles to ensure they remain safe on our roads.

Our apprenticeship means you can become a technician, qualified to work on some of the most technologically advanced trucks on the road.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be working towards a Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance. To help you succeed, you will receive on-the-job training while at our Tonbridge workshop and will attend the Sparshatt Training Academy one day a week located within our Dartford Depot. As our own training provider, we can make sure your workshop mentors are kept up to date with your progress and if you need any support, make sure you get the best all round learning experience meeting your needs.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Following completion of your apprenticeship, you will become a fully qualified heavy vehicle technician with a vast set of skills that will enable you to have a career within the automotive industry. In addition, there will be opportunities to stay with Sparshatt Truck & Van as Commercial Vehicle Technician and continue your learning as you progress through the Mercedes Benz technician pathway from maintenance to diagnostic level.
