Commercial Vehicle Technician – Western Truck Rental BarnstapleA rare and exciting opportunity has become available with Western Truck Rental at their Barnstaple depot for an experienced vehicle technician.The Role:You will be required to maintain accurately and skilfully, service and repair commercial vehicles. Whether your specialism be trucks or vans this will be to the customers complete satisfaction and highest standard within scheduled times to meet company standards.You will also be responsible for replacing components, parts and consumables whilst recording usage and ensuring all work is completed safely and complies with dealer, manufacturer, and industry standards.About You:Candidates will require previous commercial vehicle experience and be minimum NVQ / City and Guilds trained.The successful candidate must be able to work to a high standard of quality and productivity. HGV licence would be an advantage, but not essential.You must be used to working in an efficient and process-driven environment and possess an excellent work ethic. You will also be a fabulous team member and take pride in your work.On Offer:Various shifts are available between 6.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday, working an 8- or 9-hour day with a Saturday morning rota in place. Approximately 65% of their business is now geared to contract hire – providing anything from cars to articulated trucks. Many of their contract hire customers are based in North Devon but the area covered has constantly expanded and they now have customers in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, and Avon. Many of their contract hire vehicles operate nationally and in Europe. Western Truck Rental Ltd have an extensive self-drive hire fleet for customers who require a one-off use of a vehicle. The self-drive hire side of the business is wide reaching with an area embracing Bude, Launceston, Lynton, Minehead, Cullompton and Tiverton, as well as more locally, Bideford, Ilfracombe and naturally Barnstaple. In July 1992, the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Service Agency was awarded to Western Truck Rental Ltd, making it one of just a handful in the West Country. In addition to their vehicle repair and maintenance facilities, they also sell Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle parts. In 2020 the business was acquired by VMS Global who are the UK’s leading specialist fleet management company who prides itself on customer service. Joining forces with VMS has given longevity and strength to Western Truck Rental and they are delighted to be part of such a forward-thinking national company.
