About the role

Job SummaryVital Power is looking for Generator Service Engineer's to join their growing team in the North West of England. As a Generator Service Engineer, you will have an integral role within the service team, assisting in the delivery of the business's on-site activities. You must be able to work independently or as part of a team to meet customer expectations and achieve our company goals.ResponsibilitiesTo cover all aspects of generator servicing including oil and filter changes and oil, fuel, and coolant sampling.To conduct load bank testing on customer-owned generator units.To accurately fault find and diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues.To work on a broad range of generator/engine brands including (but not limited to) Cummins, Perkins, Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Scania, Iveco, and Dorman.To be able to work independently on engines from 2kVA to 2.5mVA.To complete all types of engine repairs (both mechanical and electrical).Fuel pumps, engine belts, starter motors, fuel hoses, cooling systems, AVM’s, etc.Batteries, battery chargers, water jacket heaters, starter cables, key switches, etc.To be able to interrogate different control systems such as DSE, ComAp, and DEIF.To understand changeover systems.To be able to complete or assist with mechanical engine rebuilds / top-end overhauls.To be able to complete or assist with control panel upgrade works/retrofits.To assist with projects where required.To demonstrate knowledge and experience of both mechanical and electrical skill sets.Qualifications & ExperiencePrevious experience in similar generator services companies or within the power generation industryValid CSCS/ECS cardAbility to manage own workload and establish prioritiesExperience in working effectively as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to solve problems with a positive attitudeSelf-motivated and able to learn quicklyStrong attention to detail with high levels of accuracyWillingness to undertake further training as required for professional developmentAble to liaise with customers professionally and convey information.DesirableBrand-specific generator training coursesControls systems training coursesElectrical qualifications – City & Guilds, 17th/18th editionWhat you can expect:A competitive salaryA twice per annum, ‘Profit Related Pay’ scheme that ties bonus amounts to the amount of profit made by the business.Pension scheme after 3 months of service.All employees receive 25 days leave (or equivalent pro-rata) per annum and additional bank holiday days.Eligibility to join Vitality, Private Healthcare Scheme, and BHSF Healthcare Cash Plan, At 6 months of service.Investment in professional development and training to support you in your role.A supportive and positive workplace cultureWe are an equal opportunities employer.
