SUMMARY

Reporting to the Electronic Design Team Leader the Graduate Electronics Engineer will proactively contribute to business objectives and meet customer demand through the delivery of practical, innovative, and cost effective hardware and firmware design solutions for lighting systems (based on LED technology), data capture products and specialist electronic components.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributes to the output of the electronic design team through the progress of design projects, regularly reporting design status, technical issues, schedule and cost to the management and project teams
  • Advance projects through the design stage from initial concept to ‘sign off’ managing complex specifications and ensuring high quality, sustainable products that meet stakeholder specification are achieved.
  • Work in accordance with design milestones to guarantee specifications and design to cost targets are met and projects can progress on time to the next stage
  • Resolve electronic process issues with manufacturing teams, maintaining responsibility to ensure improvements are successfully completed within deadline, meeting business goals and customer expectation
  • Undertake simulation, verification and qualification of design to ensure product will perform consistently in specified operating environment
  • Critically review design processes identifying areas of improvement, highlighting and implementing actions in order to promote maximum efficiency and continuous improvement
  • Monitor and maintain departmental documentation systems in accordance with design and project management processes, agreed procedures and company standards.
  • Apply knowledge of the latest developments in electronic technology and design specifications to ensure the business remains a market leader and continues to meet customer demand

QUALIFICATIONS - Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar subject.
EXPERIENCE - Exposure to related Electronics Designs through either Academic and/or Work Experience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Analogue and Digital Design including microprocessors /microcontrollers, programmable logic, SMPS design, PCB design and design for EMC
  • Schematic, PCB and simulation using Altium designer or similar
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem Solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent written and presentation skills

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Firmware development in “C”
  • Knowledge of design for Military/Avionics applications including EMI/EMC specifications
  • Embedded firmware/software
  • PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • Self-driven with a positive outlook and the ability to work equally well as a part of a team, or as an individual, whilst managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • A Good communicator, well presented and sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel.
  • Keen to adopt new experiences and responsibility in order to develop new skills and expand knowledge base.

Pay: £29,000.00 per year
Schedule: No weekends
