About the role
Responsible for carrying out routine inspections, annual services, Mot preparation/ presentation and repairs to our varied rental fleet of LCV and HGV vehicles. Knowledge of vehicle rental operations, Tail lifts, tippers, lorry loader cranes and the latest diagnostic software would be adventitious to the candidate. Class 1 or 2 HGV Licence is a must for this position.Working in a safe and professional manner at all times, you will be expected to run and manage your own time and environment, purchase parts through a network of approved suppliers and complete all work to a high standard to keep the fleet working. The ideal candidate will be willing to visit customers locations nationwide to deal with breakdowns and issues when needed to do. As well as instruct and direct our supplier network on best practice for repairs and maintenance nationwide.Our LCV Brands to include Ford, Mercedes, Volkswagen and HGV fleet of predominately DAF Trucks with Mercedes and Iveco as well. Hiab lorry loaders and numerous tail lift brands.We are looking for a team player to join us, who is flexible and able to work to deadlines. Able to manage and run a workshop and willing to take on and instruct an apprentice in due course to assist with maintenance.Working hours are business level driven, but normal working day is Monday to Friday 07.00 till 17.00 with an hours unpaid break throughout the day. There is the option for Saturday work 08:00 -12.00 but this can be discussed, but not essential.Workshop keys are supplied to enable early or late access as and when required.Ideally 10 years plus experience as a HGV mechanic, having spent time at a main dealer understanding one of the products listed.
