About the role

Location: Inverness, GB, IV1 1SUPosition Type: Professional Up to £20 Ph depending on skill set and experience £1000 signing bonus offered! (direct applicants only) Shift Pattern Day Shift :Day/back shift alternate weeks7:00 – 15:30 Mon – Thu7:00 – 14:30 – Fri15:00 – 11:30 Mon – Thu14:00 – 21:30 FriWhat you will doAs an HGV technician, you will be joining our Service & Workshop team at our Volvo Truck and Bus Centre. Where you will be ensuring repairs are carried out according to Volvos Standards. Here at Volvo Trucks, we believe are at the forefront of Electromobility so you will also be working on a range of systems which include alternative fuels such as LNG, hybrid and Full electric vehicles.Don’t worry if you don’t have experience with these alternative systems. When joining you will be provided with a training path. Starting with an induction at the depot to foundations events which will take you through all systems you will be using. As well as a number of courses both online and in-person to develop your skills and support you in your new role. Our culture promotes training and development to help individuals reach their career goals, and positive working relationships between staff and managers where ideas are valued.Skills/Qualifications City and Guilds, an NVQ3 or equivalent qualification is requiredYou’ll also have completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry, or have equivalent experience, along with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry.A basic knowledge of computer software packages including Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred, as is a general level of computer literacy.we’d expect you to have a basic working knowledge of vehicle technology.Who are you?As a Technician, you’ll be directly responsible for ensuring that vehicle repairs are carried out to the highest possible standard at this efficient and modern retail Dealer point.You’ll be expected to have technical and practical competency when it comes to the repair and maintenance of HGVs, and you must be able to effectively communicate at all levels on a written and verbal basis. You should be flexible enough to adapt to new processes and develop new skills when required, and participate in training and development activities. We’ll also expect you to be an active member of our busy team while being competent enough to develop new working processes or to enhance current ones.ResponsibilitiesEnsure repairs are carried out according to the manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsiblyEnsure repairs are carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriateAssist in the fault diagnosis processComply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of each repairAssist with Action Service Europe when requiredWork with the Parts Team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fittedRoad test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV licence)Assist with roadside breakdownsEnsure company time recording procedures are complied with, and that job cards are completed accuratelyEnsure service sheets are completed as per Volvo instructionsEnsure all vehicle defects are reported to workshop controllersKeep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintainedSupport the development of young trainees and apprenticeIf you are interested, apply now or recommend a friend that you think would be suitable.All Volvo group adverts are open 10 days minimum after the posting date.We value your data privacy and therefore do not accept applications via mail.
