DISCLAIMER: This role is for IDV Robotics Ltd (a subsidiary of IVECO based on the MIRA Technology Park and not associated with HORIBA MIRA Ltd).IDV Robotics is a world-class, provider of Robotics and Autonomous Systems for use in Defence applications.We are seeking an Unreal Software Engineer to join a small, fast-moving team working to create advanced robot prototypes and autonomous vehicle products. For the right candidate, we offer an opportunity to help set the agenda and organize the development of our Simulators and tools.The ideal candidate has experience leading and participating in digital twin development. Examples of excellent practical experience includes using Unreal Engine to create interactive virtual environments and the creation of supporting tools.The team’s engineers write software, conduct experiments, communicate results, give high-profile demonstrations and develop innovative solutions to new problems. We offer a relaxed but hard-working environment where individuals are recognised for their personal performance. We work a Hybrid model with up to 80% home working.We are looking for an Unreal Software Engineer to join the team. The role will involve but not limited to:Development of an Unreal based simulator for virtual testing of autonomous vehicles.Development of tools for facilitating manual and automated testing.Support the creation of digital-twins that correlate real world customer test environments.ExperienceWorked as part of a team designing and implementing Unreal based products such as simulators or games.PreferredA senior member of, or leading, a team developing Unreal based simulations and tools.Full product life-cycle experience.SkillsKey Technical SkillsEssentialCreating automated tests to run with Unreal.Writing of efficient C/C++ code for Unreal.Migrating projects between different versions of Unreal.Modifying existing Unreal assets e.g. terrain, buildings and vehicles.Experience using Blender or similar tools.DesirableUnreal source-code modification to support project specific requirements.Co-Simulation experience e.g. Unreal with CarMaker.An understanding of GNU Linux fundamentals.Networking with GRPC or similar.Docker containers.QualificationsA relevant engineering, science degree or equivalentPreferredPost graduate qualification in Software Engineering or Computer ScienceMember of a recognised professional institutionOther informationMust be self-motivated, capable of working independently, innovative, demonstrable track record of deliveryPrepared to travel within the UK and overseas, potentially involving extended periods during project deliveryThe successful candidate must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and meet UK government security vetting criteria.
