About the role
The RoleThe successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a qualified mechanical engineer, with relevant qualifications in mechanical service engineering/plant fitting.The candidate will have a strong background in either plant, HGV or agricultural engineering, with proven experience in the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of modern diesel powered, hydraulic transmission plant machinery. A knowledge of HGV/LGV and small-medium commercial vehicles is also beneficial.To supplement an already competent and experienced engineering background, ADP Group along with its suppliers will provide training on specific plant machinery.The role will see the successful candidate work from our South Gloucestershire head office,The successful candidate will report directly to our Plant & Service Manager.Although regular staying away will not be a large factor, there will be occasional requirements to attend breakdowns that require a night away.ADP Group owned plant and equipment includes, but is not limited to vans and commercial vehicles from Iveco, Renault, Citroen, Ford & Mercedes, capital plant from CompAir, Comacchio, Elgin, Putzmeister, Vector & Vaccon.Most plant machinery operated by the business is a variation of diesel powered hydraulic systems.The RequirementsThe willingness to work hard and often long hours, starting and finishing at unpredictable times, whilst working from either our purpose built workshop or fully fitted service support van.A keen eye for attention to detail, the ability to work unsupported and provide a high level of self-motivation are prerequisites.Qualification to at least NVQ level 2 in a relevant mechanical engineering trade (either plant or agricultural engineering is preferred). Experience in fabrication, and the ability to use both mig and arc welders, along with oxy/acetylene gas cutting equipment.A full, clean driving licence is essential. Preferable but not essential is C/C1 + E or B+E categories.The position will involve commuting to our South Gloucestershire head office. The successful candidate will reside within a 45 minute commute of GL128PE.The RewardThe opportunity to travel the country, working from our South Gloucestershire base, or supporting equipment onsite throughout the UK in a fully fitted mobile support van.A basic salary covering the first 9 hours of any working day, in the region of £36,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience and qualifications, plus a good overtime rate for any time worked after 9 hours on a daily basis.
