About the role

Vehicle Damage Panel Technician Apprentices are trained to repair and replace damaged panels using approved techniques, including gas, electric and plastic welding up to B.S.I certification, whilst also gaining knowledge and experience repairing damaged vehicles using specialist body jigs and tooling.In addition, the Apprentice will develop skills/awareness of estimating, an essential function for a body shop's profitability.Dipping and spraying - spray painting involves operating a spray gun and other machineryUsing formulas to mix the paint that goes into the spray gunAdjusting the flow and viscosity of their paint and control the air pressure to the spray gun by adjusting the nozzleOther job duties include properly disposing of hazardous waste, following colour charts and removing rustPaint technicians must disassemble, clean and reassemble their painting equipmentOn completion of this course you will receive a Level 3 Standard qualificationFuture prospectsA full time career within the automotive industry with many opportunities to progress to positions of authority. The opportunities are endless. By having a highly regarded set of skills, Apprentices can go on to develop their career within the specific interests they may have, whether it be progressing through their dealership, working towards a job within motorsport.Desired skillsFull training will be provided, no skills requiredPersonal qualitiesA keen interest in the cars and an urge to learn about the mechanics of light vehicles.Desired qualificationsMinimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent (A*-C or 9-4 preferable).
