Atlas cranes prove winning combination

Bradfords Building Supplies has taken delivery of 18 new 15-tonne DAF XB trucks fitted with Wessex Vehicle Bodies flatbeds and Atlas 92.4 cranes – and has just struck a deal for another 17.

Head of transport Martin Caddick describes the truck maker, bodybuilder and crane supplier as a “winning combination”.

These are the first DAF XBs the firm has ordered, but it already operates 40 trucks in this specification.

“It is a 16-tonne chassis that we downrate to 15 tonnes, giving it a 7.5-tonne payload,” Caddick says.

“It has a six-tonne front axle, and the front-mounted crane is able to deliver over the back despite the relatively short wheelbase.”
