The investment further strengthens a long-standing partnership built on trust, transparency, and consistently high levels of service.

Fernwood Transport was formed in 1983 and benefits from over 50 years’ experience in the industry. Today, it is a well-established operator within the UK’s stevedoring, solid fuel and bulk road haulage sectors. Specialising in the stevedoring, handling, storage, transportation and trading of all bulk commodities, their operations demand a robust, reliable and efficient fleet that meets Fernwood’s sustainability ambitions.
With this demand, Fernwood Transport required a fleet capable of meeting modern performance and safety expectations. Existing vehicles were ready for replacement, prompting the need for vehicles with enhanced safety systems, improved driver comfort and onboard facilities, greater fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs, all backed up by a supplier with proven aftersales support.

RH Commercial Vehicles supplied 12 Renault Trucks T480s, carefully specified to support Fernwood’s operational requirements while delivering strong long term value. The trucks were selected for their balance of performance, efficiency, and driver-focused design.
Safety is a core strength of the Renault Trucks range, with a variety of advanced systems fitted as standard. This includes, emergency braking systems, and electronic parking brakes: automatic parking for improved responsiveness and control. These and additional features enhance driver confidence and road performance.

The cab has been designed to provide a practical and comfortable working environment for drivers. Included in the cab is the “comfort” driver’s seat with ventilation and adjustable lumbar support; air conditioning for optimal climate control; digital dashboard for clear, easy to read information; electric sockets to power accessories, including microwaves or coffee machines. These features help reduce fatigue and improve day to day driver experience, an increasingly important factor in driver retention.
The new trucks also deliver improved operational efficiency through Eco cruise control to optimise fuel consumption, reducing running costs and environmental impact.

Charles Holehouse, Managing Director, commented: “Continuously modernising our bulk tipper fleet is an essential part of Fernwood’s sustainability ambitions and targets. Electric vehicles do not yet meet the daily requirements of our operational needs. Therefore, running the most up-to-date, modern, and fuel-efficient Euro 6 diesel engines, fitted with AdBlue technology, allows Fernwood to operate the most sustainable diesel-powered truck available. This sustainability benefit can then be passed on to our customers”.
The relationship between RH Commercial Vehicles and Fernwood is built on years of collaboration and mutual trust. RHCV prides itself on transparency throughout the procurement process; reliable service delivery from handshake to handover; and tailored solutions aligned to operational needs.
This latest delivery is a testament to the strength and longevity of the relationship, which will continue to drive forward long into the future.
