The new Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tire range will make its debut to a broader audience at Goodyear's exhibition during the IAA Transportation event, held from September 16 to 22, 2024, in Hanover.
Goodyear is announcing the launch of its latest premium truck line of tires, the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA. Engineered to meet the evolving demands of the transportation industry, these tires are designed with an emphasis on sustainable material usage , fuel efficiency and versatility, making them well-suited for a wide range of applications, from long-haul to inter-regional routes.
With the launch of the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA, Goodyear introduces a tire range that aims to support sustainability and performance to meet the current needs of transportation fleets. As industry regulations further tighten emission standards, the need for introducing new products and solutions has never been greater.
Depending on the different sizes, tires from the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA ranges are made with up to 55% sustainable materials[1], including ingredients like Rice Husk Ash (RHA)-based silica.
Advanced compounds for mileage and fuel efficiency
With the introduction of a new tread compound that includes a higher content of silica, the EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tires offer up to 20% better mileage[2] and up to 6% improved rolling resistance[3] compared to their predecessors. The high abrasion-resistant tread compound made with silica is engineered to help improve wear, reduce heat generation, and lower rolling resistance, helping to enhance mileage, long-term durability and fuel efficiency.
Complementing the tread improvements, the new carcass compounds featuring silica contribute to lower heat generation within the carcass, helping to reduce rolling resistance and increasing long-term durability. These advancements can help the EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tires to provide reliable, cost-effective performance over extended periods, making them potentially a valuable asset for fleet operators.
Building on the key features of FUELMAX ENDURANCE and FUELMAX PERFORMANCE ranges, the Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA drive tires can also enhance traction with a directional tread with high-profile depth. The new tire range also enhance the robustness of steer tires, helping reduce the risk of damage and irregular wear. In EQMAX T ULTRA, designed for trailers, new tread design with additional sipes was introduced to enhance grip and braking on all weather conditions.
Designed for the future: Electric Drive Ready and RFID technology
The EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tires are designed to be Electric Drive Ready. This means they are suitable for a variety of drivetrains, including diesel, gas, electric, and hydrogen-powered vehicles, offering a one-product solution for all vehicle types. With a higher load capacity than conventional tires of the same size and lower rolling resistance, these tires help optimize the range of electric vehicles while ensuring robust performance across all driveline configurations.
Goodyear EQMAX and EQMAX ULTRA tires come also equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags. These tags enable each tire to communicate with cloud networks on an individual serial number level, providing seamless tire flow management and enhancing fleet management capabilities.
