PRICHARD’S SUPER – VERSATILE FLEET GOES 100% HARSH

SKIPS, HOOKS, TIPPERS AND TRACTORS – PRICHARD’S FLEET GOES 100% HARSH

PRICHARD’S SUPER – VERSATILE FLEET GOES 100% HARSH
In the last few years, HARSH has built up an enviable reputation for both the range and quality of its product line-up. Whatever the requirement, there’s something that’s just right for everyone. And whereas most customers opt for particular HARSH products to suit their individual requirements, it’s rare for a single operator to take ALL the key HARSH product lines – but that is exactly what Prichard’s has done for its latest ’25’ and  ’75’ registered trucks.

Based in Llantrisant, South Wales, ever-growing Prichard’s has just added another batch of vehicles to its extensive fleet, including hookloaders, skiploaders, front end tippers, tipper grabs and tractor units. Whilst Prichard’s has been a HARSH user for many years (starting off with an inherited hookloader) these latest trucks coming on stream have all been configured with application – specific HARSH bodywork and hydraulics and hence mark a real milestone between the two companies.

“Our business continues to grow strongly and our trucks play a key role in that growth” says Prichard’s Transport Manager Jamie Minahan. “Above all we want reliability, durability and low cost of upkeep, and HARSH equipment delivers all three. It’s also hugely advantageous if we can get all our bodywork and hydraulics needs from one source, so if HARSH makes it, we’ll fit it. Similarly, our fleet – standard chassis are Scania XTs supplied by Keltruck in Cardiff. We aim to provide our clients and our drivers with the best performing vehicles possible, which in turn helps us deliver a premium level of response and customer service. Whatever the type of vehicle, HARSH and Scania is a combination that really delivers.”

At 18t, the skiploaders come with the radio – controlled HARSH HS14 platform and hydraulically actuated ‘Skip n’ Go’ sheeting system that together ensure safe and speedy operation with any size of skip. Similarly, the latest 8×4 XT chassis has been fitted with HH26 hookloader bodywork and a width – adjustable sheet, this vehicle fully able to carry all types of containers from low-sided models used for the removal of soil and rubble to the biggest bins carrying general waste and scrap.

For Prichard’s steel – bodied tippers, HARSH FE lightweight front end gears are chosen for standard trucks, whilst stabilised J100 underfloors lift the bodies on the tipper grabs. Lastly, Prichard’s latest 6×2 tag axle 500 R tractor unit has also been fitted with a custom – built TK wet kit for working with moving floor trailers shifting bulk waste. By adopting every product in the HARSH range Prichard’s has achieved a unique status amongst UK operators working in these arduous environments.

Jamie adds “Aside from the products themselves, what we really like about HARSH is the fact that as a stand – alone, family – owned business we can communicate with them very easily – because that’s exactly the type of company we are too. We share the same customer-focused, pro-active business outlook. Led by Rob Geesing and his AfterSales Team, HARSH also demonstrates a real commitment to back-up, parts availability and service support. These are the things that really count in the long term.”

With 2025 having rounded off its 30th year in business, Prichard’s is now a major player across South Wales’ industry, its 300 – plus employees covering operations in demolition, waste management, recycling, civil engineering, quarrying, land remediation, plant hire and rail.

Speaking for HARSH, Managing Director Adam Hargreaves notes “We are both delighted and privileged to have Prichard’s as one of our major customers, not just for one but for all of our major product lines. There’s no better example of demonstrating what HARSH can do for any company, large or small, by offering top quality products fully supported by premium levels of customer contact and aftersales support.”
