Based in Nottinghamshire, the company forms part of Hutchinson Engineering Services and specialises in servicing a demanding fleet of heavy and specialist trailers. To support this work, Specialist Trailer Services has invested in ten ST1075FWA wireless mobile column lifts, each offering a lifting capacity of 7.5 tonnes, with a scalable lifting capability of up to 75 tonnes when configured as a full ten-column set.

To safely accommodate its range of low loaders, flatbed trailers and specialist rigid trailers, the company selected an A-frame trailer beam adaptor for use with the mobile columns. This solution allows trailers to be lifted directly via the kingpin connection, eliminating the need to invest in a dedicated trailer lift.

The adaptor connects directly to the lifting points on the columns, with the trailer’s kingpin securely locked into the beam. This creates a stable and well-balanced lifting arrangement. When the adaptor is not required, it can be removed quickly, allowing the mobile columns to revert to standard wheel-engaging lifting for vehicles and trailers, maximising flexibility within the workshop.

Operation of the lifts is supported by Stertil-Koni’s advanced wireless mesh network, which delivers reliable communication between columns even in busy workshop environments. Unlike conventional Bluetooth or radio wireless systems, the mesh network maintains strong, consistent connectivity across the entire lifting set.

The columns are also equipped with Stertil-Koni’s ebright Smart Control System. Featuring a full-colour touchscreen, the system allows engineers to control lifts individually, in pairs, or as a complete set from any column, streamlining setup and allowing more focus on the task at hand.

The Stertil-Koni mobile column lifts were supplied by authorised distributor Partic Motor Spares, based in Newark.
