We’re expanding our Truckstop network with Scottish acquisition

We’re excited to announce the acquisition of the Ecclefechan truck stop in Lockerbie, marking the next step in our network expansion plans.

We’re expanding our Truckstop network with Scottish acquisition
With growing calls for improved safe, secure, and high-quality HGV services in Scotland, our newest site will make essential amenities more widely available and ensure driver wellbeing is a priority.

We’ve already been at the site for the past seven years, having opened our HGV refuelling bunker there in 2019. Now, we’ll be investing in redevelopment, helping to make driver’s journeys that little bit smoother.

The Ecclefechan Site

Situated just one mile from junction 19 on the A74, the ‘Fechan Truck Stop is on the route between Scotland and England, with around 16,000 HGVs passing on the motorway each day.

Powered entirely by 100kW wind turbines, which generates surplus electricity that’s fed back into the national grid, Ecclefechan will contribute to our sustainability initiatives while also making a meaningful contribution to Scotland’s thriving renewable energy sector.

We’re aiming to replicate the huge success of our first truck stop, TheStop at The Hollies, which achieved a Park Freight Award in 2023, by improving the facilities for HGV drivers and giving the truck stop a full rebrand.

The Site Facilities

Ecclefechan is already integrated with the SNAP account network, allowing HGV drivers to access secure parking and pay seamlessly using the widely adopted cashless system, as well as 217 parking spaces.

We’ve got big plans to redevelop the truck stop, with the installation of e-HGV chargers thanks to funding from the Scottish Government, a gaming area, and further enhancement of the site’s operational and sustainability credentials.

Investing In Our Network

Ecclefechan follows the recent acquisition of the Watling Street truck stop in St Albans earlier this year – and is part of our planned expansion across the UK. Our aim is to bring high-quality services, fuels and amenities to drivers around the UK.

Mike Heaton, Head of Estate Development at Certas Energy Fuel Cards, said:

By bringing Ecclefechan into the Certas Energy network, we’re not just expanding our footprint – we’re helping to shape the next generation of sustainable roadside services. Powered by wind, offering upcoming e-HGV charging and major improvements planned, this site embodies the innovation and investment needed to support the UK’s transition to a lower-carbon freight future.”
