Junior / Trainee Technician

Southdowns Motorhome Centre is looking to hire a new Trainee Motorhome Technician. With no experience needed and just a little bit of common sense, we’re looking to teach the right candidate everything our technicians know about motorhome maintenance and repair. We work closely with our manufacturing partners and will provide excellent training and development to ensure you have everything you need to excel in your role with us.

As the largest motorhome dealership in the South, we have a fantastic network of customers here in Portsmouth and the surrounding area. We have two Portsmouth locations, one for our showroom and accessory shop, and one for our service center where this role is located. Our Service Centre is an ex-IVECO garage and consists of 10 specialist service bays and our valeting department. Southdowns has been in the business for over 20 years and as far as motorhomes go there isn’t much we don’t know.

Our ideal candidate is going to fit well with our team, be neat, and provide a good amount of attention to detail in their work. If you have any previous experience in a technician role that is beneficial, however not essential as this is an entry-level role.

You must be able to use a computer.

Your day-to-day role will include a lot of training through a mixture of shadowing other team members, watching training videos, and speaking with our manufacturers. On some occasions, we may require you to complete training days externally.

 The Trainee Motorhome Technician role will mainly focus on, but isn’t limited to:

- 12V and 240V operating systems

- electrical, gas, plumbing and carpentry installations

- software diagnostics, fault finding and testing

- and general motorhome/camper van repairs

This role is perfect for individuals looking to develop their skills in a supportive environment while gaining hands-on experience in engineering applications.
