Job Description

RISK AND CONTROLS OFFICER | Milton Keynes

Salary: Up to £45,000

As our next Risk and Controls Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the risk and controls frameworks, as well as identifying and analysing key areas of business risk. You will apply your knowledge and expertise to help pinpoint control failures and provide expert support to rectify them. Through your visibility and collaborative approach, you will raise awareness and understanding of risk across the business, and provide monitoring and follow-up through departmental reviews, workshops and the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).

To truly excel in this position, you will be an individual who embodies our core values. The chosen candidate will enjoy the breadth and exposure accorded to a Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team, and will be personable and skilled in building relationships across the organisation. You will serve as the main point of contact for any risk-related enquiries and will work closely with the Compliance Officer to provide comprehensive GRC support. You will initially be part of a team of 3, with further expansion anticipated within the short- to medium-term. The team is structured such that each role oversees and manages its own areas of responsibility, and you will be afforded the autonomy to make the role your own.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviewing, developing and monitoring the effectiveness of risk management policies, control procedures and reporting
  • Maintaining the organisation’s risk and incident registers, receiving and processing incident reports from across the business and identifying underlying trends and areas of  significant risk
  • Providing training and subject matter expertise to colleagues across the business in relation to risk management and internal control
  • Monitoring the company’s KRIs, providing reports and insights to support management decision-making
  • Identifying control failures and providing expert support with remediation.
